Following their discussions, India and Canada reached an agreement to appoint new high commissioners. Carney remarked on his meeting with Modi, stating, "We will move to appoint High Commissioners again." He characterized the meeting as crucial, describing it as a foundational step that involved a candid exchange of views on law enforcement and transnational repression. Carney expressed optimism about rebuilding a relationship grounded in mutual respect, sovereignty, and trust.

At the G7 Summit in Kananaskis, Modi and Carney discussed the robust historical connections between their countries, focusing on partnerships in the Indo-Pacific region, economic growth, and supply chains. Carney noted that Modi's consistent attendance at G7 Summits since 2018 reflects the significance of India's economy and its dynamic role in global leadership across various platforms, including the G20.

Carney further stated, "As Chair of the G7, hosting the Prime Minister in that context is entirely natural, entirely consistent. I fully expect the Prime Minister of India to be in attendance at the G7 in France next year." Meanwhile, Modi expressed gratitude for the successful G7 Summit on his social media platform, stating, "Concluding a productive Canada visit.
